WORKSHOP: EDITING THE FILM DOCUMENTARY WITH ADOBE PREMIERE

Students will learn essential Adobe Premiere skills to enable them to edit and finish a short documentary. This is a technical workshop, which involves minimal discussion of filmmaking concepts. Workshop includes live demos.

Workshop Outline:
9:30am-4:00pm (breaks included)

  • Capturing footage from DV camera.
  • Working with Premier environment: Project, Timeline, and Monitor windows.
  • Getting audio, video, and stills into Premiere.
  • Organizing your source material.
  • Previewing a clip or a video program.
  • Editing and trimming video clips.
  • Applying video transitions between clips.
  • Adjusting audio levels, panning, and balancing.
  • Video and Audio effects.
  • Titles and typography.
  • Superimposing and Compositing.
  • Motion for text, stills, and video.
  • Video Output options: AVI, VCD, DVD, RealVideo, ...

Prerequisites:

  • AFC's Intro to Documentary Filmmaking Workshop, comparable training, or prior filmmaking experience.
  • Windows 2000/XP user-level knowledge.
