SEEKING A PLOT FOR A SHORT FILM

Do you want to contribute to the script of a short film?

DEADLINE: JANUARY 10, 2006

Cooperative filmmakers Omar Saleh and Mohammad Abujarad have almost completed the production of their short film code-named "Help Not Wanted," but after the shooting, the co-directors and the creative team have still not decided on the ending twist for the short film.

We are inviting you to share your ideas on the film's ending. The author of the winning ending will get credit as a script co-writer. All contributors will be listed in the "Thank You" section.

This is how the short film goes...

SEQUENCE 1: A young man reads the newspaper and sees an ad. We do not know the content of the ad yet. This is part of the ending twist that we are opening for discussion.

SEQUENCE 2: A group of young men are setting tensely in a waiting room, supposedly in response to the ad.

SEQUENCE 3: Another man enters the waiting room and distributes papers asking those in the room to fill them out.

SEQUENCE 4: Later, The same man enters the room to collect the papers.

SEQUENCE 5: After a while, the same man retunes and calls on their names one at a time to accompany him outside the waiting room.

SEQUENCE 6: The last filmed shots show each one of the interviewees escaping from the office where supposedly they were being interviewed. The exit efforts lean towards the comical.

ORIGINAL TWIST: The ad in Sequence 1 may have said "WANTED: RESPONSIBLE YOUNG MEN FOR A REWARDING JOB THAT WILL IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR MILLIONS. SIGN UP FOR AN INTERVIEW TO LEARN MORE." Of course exact wording can be modified to match one of proposed endings.

SEQUENCE 7: This has not been shot yet. At the end of the film, the interviewer while looking at an 8 x 11 paper with something written on it makes call, and the conversation goes like this:

INTERVIEWER: We have interviewed hundreds but no one wants the job.

PHONE: I guess we need to change the job description again.

INTERVIEWER: Will do. Good bye.

The interviewer leaves the paper on the table so camera can zoom in on it. It says something about one of the following (the co-directors have not decided)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
1) Understanding women. (no accusations of sexism please).
2) Living independently from parents.
3) Becoming responsible heads of households.
4) Joining the anti-corruption task force.
5) Becoming a Jordanian government minister.

ADD YOUR TWIST OR VOTE FOR ONE OF THE ABOVE ONES!!!
