FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(July 24, 2005 - AMMAN) For its 9th session, the Ismailia International Festival for Documentary & Short Films selects two short AFC films for 2005.

Overdose by Ammar Quttaineh has been selected for the competition, and Heartache by the soon-to-be-wed Mais and Hussam Hamarneh has been selected for the festival panorama.

"We are delighted to have a presence at the highly-competitive Ismailia festival, considered one of the most established film festivals in the region," said Hazim Bitar, AFC founder and coordinator.

Quttaineh's Overdose won the Jordanian Film Competition '05 Golden Award as well as the Jordanian Short Film Festival '05 Audience Golden Choice Award.

"This is good news for the production team and for Jordanian cinema," commented Quttaineh, "anything I say will sound like a broken record at this point, but I am plain ecstatic," he continued.

The Hamarnehs' film Heartache has also been selected for the Festival du monde arabe de Montréal '05, Canada, and the Emirate Film Competition '04, UAE.

"It's such a boost to our morale to have our first film screen at the Ismailia panorama," said Mais Hamarneh, co-director of the short film.

The 9th Ismailia International Festival for Documentary & Short Films, chaired by filmmaker and critic Ali Abou Shadi, will be held from 10 – 17 September 2005.
