FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(JUNE 13, 2007 - AMMAN) Open Doors Factory of the Locarno Film Festival selects Hazim Bitar's film project "From Nowhere with Love" for its annual feature film professional support program.
The film project "From Nowhere with Love," submitted prior to the outbreak of violence in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, speaks to the state of despair surrounding Palestinian refugees there.
The first phase of Open Doors, the Locarno International Film Festival’s co-production lab, organized with support from the Swiss Foreign Ministry’s Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) received a record 121 project applications for the 2007 edition. Eleven projects were received from Jordan alone, reflecting an increased level of filmmaking activity.
For this year, some of the selected film projects belong to filmmakers such as Mai Masri, Sameh Zoabi, Raed Andoni, and Hala Alabdalla.
Open Doors 2007 will take place between the 4th and 8th of August, in Locarno, Switzerland, in the frame of the 60th Locarno International Film Festival. (1-11 August).
Filmmaker Hazim Bitar is the founder and coordinator of the Amman Filmmakers Cooperative (AFC), and director of the Jordan Short Film Festival (JSFF).
