FILMMAKERS OMAR SALEH AND RIFQI ASSAF FINISH SHOOTING CULT COMEDY "THE
LAST PATCH"

(June 19, 2005 - AMMAN) Arguably considered AFC's first cult film, directors Omar Saleh and Rifqi Assaf join forces to produce a comedy about the uncertain future of the Microsoft empire.

The futuristic short film depicts the last stand-off between the advocates of Open Source/Linux on one side and the last few followers of Bill Gates/Windows on the other.

The Last Patch is delivered by a messenger from the holy land to end all bugs, worms, and trojans afflicting Windows, which were implanted by the agents of Open Source to bring down the Microsoft empire.

Will Bill Gates return? Will the Last Patch bring back the glory? Will the handful of faithful Microsoft agents manage to spread the Last Patch?

The film cast includes young talent Karim Zeine, Ammar Omary, Sameh Hajjawi, Baha Othman, Ala Mhameed, Rabee Zureikat (Ash), Omar Saleh (Decision Man), Munther Quttaineh, Rawan Zeine, Mohammad Khatib, Mohammad Shobaki, and Ibrahim De'ja.

"We have selected this film script because Windows is so omnipresent. It has become an extension to the daily routine of the global elite," said Omar Saleh, film co-director. "Practically speaking, Windows is trusted with organizing and with communicating our thoughts. It's also a source of livelihood for millions around the world. That's an empire," added the filmmaker.

"This is a short film that many around the world will relate to," commented Rifqi Assaf, co-director of the short film, "especially with the ongoing saga between Microsoft and the various regulators and IT communities over the dominance of Windows."

The film will be in post-production for two weeks, and will screen at various cultural institutions in Jordan, before entering the international film festival market.

The AFC is seeking sponsors, primarily IT firms, who wish to incorporate their logos in this film.
