JORDANIAN INDIE CINEMA CONTINUES FESTIVAL MARCH IN 2007

(JORDAN - 10/2/2007) Two film festivals have selected five indie
Jordanian films, by the Amman Filmmakers Cooperative, for the month of
March.

The 6th edition of the Emirates Film Competition, UAE, has selected
four independent Jordanian short films. The films are Sharar by Saleh
Kasem, Ammar Quttaineh, and Hazim Bitar; Little Feet by Aseel Mansour;
What a Job by Mohamad Aboujarad, Omar Saleh, and Hazim Bitar; and Ash
by Rabee Zureikat. The Emirates Film Competition is directed and
founded by Masoud Amrallah, also a programmer at Dubai Int'l Film
Festival.

The Filmfestival Augsburg 2007, Germany, will screen three indie
Jordanian films as part of its New Arab Cinema program. The films are
Overdose by Ammar Quttaineh, Sharar, and Little Feet. The program is
organized by curator Irit Neidhardt of Mec Films.

Cooperative outreach liaison Rabee Zureikat said "since profit is not
part of the equation, the ultimate payoff for every independent
Jordanian filmmaker is to find an interested audience for his or her
film." Zureikat, who directed the short film Ash, continued
"if Jordan is our studio, the world is our stage."

The Amman Filmmakers Cooperative (AFC) is a not-for-profit cultural
initiative and talent incubator. Founded in 2003, the AFC promotes
independent Arab filmmaking through training, production support, and
distribution.
