INDIE FILMMAKER OMAR SALEH WRAPS UP SHORT FILM, IMPRESSES CRITICS

Cooperative filmmaker Omar Saleh puts final touches on his latest short film titled I Am Ready, a silent comedy about youthful energy undermined by cynical social engineering.
Saleh's intelligent short offers a contrarian view to the dismissive attitudes toward the educated but unemployed youth who crowd Amman's popular cafes.
"You run around all day looking for a job to make you a productive member of society, you finish your taxi driving shift while your college degree picks up dust, what do you do?" asks Cooperative filmmaker Omar Saleh. "You avoid going home with a foul attitude, so you swing by the crowded cafe, to disappear in the suffocating smoke and incomprehensible noise, with others like you."
Leading Jordanian film critic Adnan Madanat remarked "I Am Ready is a tragicomedy about a hopeful young generation without hope." Commenting on the technical aspects, Madanat says "with a camera that knows how to hunt for stunning images; [Omar Saleh] gives intensity to a stimulating short film."
Saleh's other films have screened in Carthage Film Festival, San Francisco Arab Film Festival, Izmir Short Film Festival, Emirates Film Competition, Jordan Short Film Festival, and others.
