9:30am-12:30pm - Project Support & Feedback
Remedial technical assistance will be offered for workshop students who may need additional support to help finish their short films. Instructor time is allotted on a first-come basis.
NOTE: Students who need computer-editing assistance should bring a MiniDV tape or a FireWire capable video camera. Sorry but other formats are not supported by the instructor's A/V gear.
1pm-3pm - Microsoft MovieMaker II Workshop
Many workshop participants did not have Adobe Premiere editing software or expressed frustrations at the steep learning curve. Microsoft's MovieMaker II editing software is provided with Windows XP for free or can be downloaded from the web. MovieMaker is the best film-editing tool for those who want simplicity and availability. This technical workshop will cover the following topics:
- Capturing video from DV camera
- Editing video in timeline
- Adding narration to video
- Adding transitions
- Adding video effects
- Adding titles
- Saving to DV tape, CD, or webTo download MovieMaker II, go to Microsoft link below:

3pm-5:30pm - Film Screening & Commentary
- Screening of completed workshop students' films
- Surprise film from Amman's early cinema (by popular demand) followed by commentary by Al-Rai film critic Najeh Hassan on the struggle to find and restore lost Jordanian films
- Selection of short documentaries produced by up-and-coming Amman filmmakers
- Screening of an international award-winning documentary
NOTE: The awards ceremony may be postponed until next meetingITEMS TO BRING:
- Optional video camera (FireWire/MiniDV preferred, fully charged batteries to last about an hour)
- Blank tape for video camera
- Papers and pens for taking notes
- Blank and formatted floppy disk for possible electronic copies of handoutsLOGISTICS:
