JORDANIAN SHORT FILM "SHARAR" TO COMPETE IN FRANCE'S BIENNALE DES CINEMAS ARABES A PARIS

(JORDAN - 5/21/2006) The prestigious Biennale des cinémas arabes à Paris has officially entered Jordanian short film "Sharar" by Saleh Kasem and Ammar Quttaineh into its competition.

The film tells the story of a blue-collar worker, in one of Jordan's "industrial" zones, who is trying to deal with a world of shrinking opportunities in the era of globalization.

The cast of "Sharar" includes Mutaz Dirani, Karim Shiyab, Nour Moumani, Lo'ay Quttaineh, Tamir Omary, and Hisham Hawamdeh.

The AFC is a cultural initiative aimed at promoting independent Arab cinema.
