TURKISH FESTIVAL TO SHOWCASE INDEPENDENT JORDANIAN CINEMA
(JORDAN - 10/31/2006) In collaboration with the Amman Filmmakers
Cooperative (AFC), the Izmir International Short Film Festival (IISFF)
will host a program of Jordanian independent cinema during its 7th
session. The films selected for the program are:
- What a Job, by Omar Saleh and Mohammad Aboujarad.
- Growing Up in Amman's Suburbia, by Hazim Bitar.
- Little Feet, by Aseel Mansour.
- Sharar, by Saleh Kasem, Ammar Quttaineh, and Hazim Bitar.
- The Last Patch, by Rifqi Assaf, Omar Saleh.
- The Order of Out, by Jafar Safwan.
"Independent filmmakers need an outlet for their creativity, and
international screenings provide the incentive to
continue along their cinematic journey," said Hazim Bitar, AFC
founder. "There is no financial support or payoffs for indie film production in
Jordan, but the ability to reach out to a global audience has always
been the ultimate reward for our filmmakers."
The 7th session of the Izmir International Short Film Festival will be
held during the 3rd and 12th of November 2006, in the Turkish city of
Izmir. This festival is a member of the European Coordination of Film
Festivals (ECFF).
The Amman Filmmakers Cooperative (AFC) is a cultural initiative aimed
at promoting independent Arab cinema.
